This matrix displays the disadvantaged population group for the "employment status" dimension by indicator and country. The disadvantaged population was identified by selecting the category group most prone to cancer inequalities based on the data presented above (e.g. with the highest prevalence of cancer risk factor). The data represent the last available year for each indicator. The grey colour indicates the data is unavailable for that particular country.
Note: this chart does not represent the inequality gap within a country.

Data source and collection: The data source is the European Health Interview Survey (EHIS), which collects data via national surveys. The EHIS aims at measuring on a harmonised basis and with a high degree of comparability among Member States (MS) the health status (including disability), health determinants (lifestyle) of the EU citizens and use of health care services and limitations in accessing it. The general coverage of the survey is the population aged 15 or over, living in private households residing in the territory of the country. Data for the labour dimension were obtained by request to EUROSTAT. The survey population was divided into four groups, based on the questions in the EHIS about labour status:

  • Employed persons
  • Unemployed persons
  • Retired persons
  • Other persons outside the labour force
